Hello and welcome!
I’m Caroline, CEO of The Devika Dementia C.I.C. We are a non-profit, social enterprise that provides safe, meaningful, and reliable day services for people living with Dementia and respite for the families and carers who support them.
I’m incredibly proud of our dedicated team who bring our sessions to life each day. They are patient, hardworking, and genuinely caring individuals who create a space where our wonderful attendees feel understood, valued, and supported.
My Story
My Mum, Devika, is the inspiration behind everything we are striving to achieve. She was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2010 when I was just 28. Then in 2022, my Dad, Ernie, sadly suffered a stroke which led to a diagnosis of Vascular Dementia. Both of my parents are now living as well as they can with Dementia, supported in full-time care.
Dementia is a cruel and heart-breaking disease that affects so many families. My own journey has shaped who I am and fuels my commitment to helping others living with Dementia. I use the knowledge, lessons, and experiences gained from caring for my parents every single day and I continue to learn, because every Dementia journey is unique. What remains constant is this: everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, kindness and understanding.
I can’t help but see our lovely attendees as part of my extended family, because this work is so close to my heart. Every decision we make is guided by one simple question: “Would I be happy for my parents to attend a service like ours?”
We’re always looking to connect with people who have lived experience of dementia and want to make a difference. If you feel passionate about helping others live better with Dementia, we would love to hear from you.
